I’m very excited to kick off 2015 by partnering with Verizon Wireless to Host the Verizon Wireless Move More Challenge.
This challenge runs from January 5 to March 31, 2015 and open to all my friends in OH, PA, WV, KY, MI, IN, ND, SD, MN, IA, NE, IL and WI who are interested in adding more activity in their lives, no matter your fitness level.
While I hope participants receives short- and long-term health benefits, I know it is encouraging to have a tangible incentive. That’s why I’m REALLY excited that those participating by leaving a comment on my blog posts will be eligible for a chance to win one of three (3) Fitbit Charge from Verizon Wireless! [complete rules]
Each comment left on my blog posts will serve as entry in the final drawing. That’s it, no social media requirement but if you’re interested in sharing on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, please tag with #MoveMoreVZW so I can find them and cheer you on! Start today by leaving a comment on this post letting me know what activity you would like to do to MOVE MORE!
As the host of the Verizon Wireless Move More Challenge, Verizon has given me a Fitbit Charge (my profile) and in only a couple of days it was eye-opening to see I haven’t been getting 10,000 steps a day. I’m telling myself that leaves room for improvement!
I’m still learning how to use it and what other apps I can sync with it like MyFitnessPal where I usually log workouts based on my heart rate monitor. I tend to do those in bulk for the week so that’s why this photo doesn’t show an exercise even though I went to cycling.
So if you’re ready to join me in Verizon Wireless Move More Challenge from January 5 to March 31, leave a comment and get moving!

Trish
January 6, 2015 at 10:49 pmFunny that I was researching the FitBit Charge HR on my way home tonight. I don’t have a heart rate monitor so I was trying to figure out if it was worth the extra $20. How do you like your FitBit? I don’t have one, but am seriously considering. Right now moving more is walking to and from the train station for work!
Andi
January 7, 2015 at 7:42 pmKeep moving to/from the train, Trish! I like it and if you like knowing about your heart rate during activity, you’ll probably benefit from the Charge HR. The Fitbit app tracks sleep and gives you a way to track your food and water overall making one mindful of all these decisions

January 7, 2015 at 6:22 am“Sitting is the New Smoking”… My mantra as I aim to walk/ run/ play more with my kids this year. I want to show them the benefits of an active life (vs. sedentary tv watching). On dangerously cold days like today (12 degrees), we play “Bear” or “Shark” and run around the house chasing each other!
Andi
January 7, 2015 at 7:36 pmThat’s great, Rachael, the play in the house not the part about sitting being the new smoking (as a cube dweller that’s scary!)
Faith
January 7, 2015 at 11:00 amIt would be interesting to see how many steps I get in when I’m working compared to when I’m home. I live in a small space but I cover the same ground a lot!
Andi
January 7, 2015 at 7:34 pmThanks for joining, Faith, keep moving!
Molly Beam
January 7, 2015 at 11:48 amI am getting a full hip replacement this month so I can do exactly everything the FITBIT encourages! It comes down to QUALITY of LIFE after age 65 and I’m going to attack it with vigor ! My 98 year old Mother exercised every morning before breakfast and played tennis until she was 88. I know she would approve of using the FITBIT, anything that gets us moving and keeping us flexible, healthy and wise !
Andi
January 7, 2015 at 7:31 pmWelcome to the Move More Challenge, Molly, your mom is great inspiration for all of us! May you a full and speedy recovery.

January 7, 2015 at 1:03 pmAfter losing 35 pounds since May 2014 thru diet and exercise, the holidays kicked my butt and I’m back on the wagon again! I only gained back a couple pounds, but I’m still mad at myself, especially since I still have such much farther to go…but I’ll get there! Ultimate goal is 65 lbs by the time my next, next birthday comes around – Feb 2016. But my immediate goal for this challenge is 20 lbs – roughly 10% of my current weight. Thanks Andi and Verizon for the extra boost to get me moving!
Andi
January 7, 2015 at 7:26 pmAmy, I love your goals and that you’ll be MOVING toward them using this challenge!

January 12, 2015 at 7:49 amSo, I have been walking on the treadmill this week and drinking a million gallons of water and watching my calories. I lost 5 pounds! I am sure it’s “water weight” but I’ll take it. ๐ How do you like the fitbit?
Andi
January 13, 2015 at 7:47 pmSo far, Erin, I really like the Fitbit it is quite the conversation starter and I’m learning how others are out and about moving! Congrats on the water intake!

erin
January 16, 2015 at 7:00 amI’ve been moving more and doing zumba. My shoes are old and dumb. So, I went to the store to get new gym shoes. AHHH. So overwhelming. What shoes do you like? Can I wear running shoes to do Zumba? I mean sometimes I walk on the treadmill and use the machines too. So, aren’t they all just “gym shoes”? What are your opinions on that?
erin
January 20, 2015 at 7:57 amYou should give Zumba another try!! Do it! You can not possibly be more uncoordinated than I am. You spin! And I can’t do that. ๐
