Passion Bars

I cannot figure out why these are called Passion Bars. I served them to a group of adults and noticed no change in behavior. I think when I put them in my recipe book, I will rename that You Call-its. Name aside, they are DELICIOUS, don’t let the oats scare you!

2 cups quick oats
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
½ ts salt
½ baking soda
¾ cup butter, softened
1 can (14oz) sweetened condensed milk
¾ cup peanut butter
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat over to 350*
Grease a 9×13 baking pan

In your mixing bowl (or a large bowl), stir together oats, flour, brown sugar, salt and baking soda
Cut in the butter to form a crumbly mixture
Reserve 1 ½ cups of crumbs; pat the rest down evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan

In a medium bowl, stir together sweetened condensed mil and peanut butter
Spread evenly over the crumbly oat layer
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the peanut butter layer
Then add the reserved crumbly mixture on top

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350* until golden brown
Cool completely before cutting into bars

Like with many of my recipes, I add about 2-4 tablespoons of wheat germ and ground flax seed. I do not have to worry about gluten, so I mix the two together in one large container.

I think the fact that it DOES have oats, makes it sound delish. Hilarious that you noticed no change in behavior after people eat these. LOL

Great idea to add the flax seed &/or wheat germ… 😉
