Verizon Move More Challenge

I’m very excited to kick off 2015 by partnering with Verizon Wireless to Host the Verizon Wireless Move More Challenge.

Fitbit udandi.com #MoveMoreVZW

This challenge runs from January 5 to March 31, 2015 and open to all my friends in OH, PA, WV, KY, MI, IN, ND, SD, MN, IA, NE, IL and WI who are interested in adding more activity in their lives, no matter your fitness level.

While I hope participants receives short- and long-term health benefits, I know it is encouraging to have a tangible incentive. That’s why I’m REALLY excited that those participating by leaving a comment on my blog posts will be eligible for a chance to win one of three (3) Fitbit Charge from Verizon Wireless! [complete rules]

Each comment left on my blog posts will serve as entry in the final drawing. That’s it, no social media requirement but if you’re interested in sharing on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, please tag with #MoveMoreVZW so I can find them and cheer you on! Start today by leaving a comment on this post letting me know what activity you would like to do to MOVE MORE!

As the host of the Verizon Wireless Move More Challenge, Verizon has given me a Fitbit Charge (my profile) and in only a couple of days it was eye-opening to see I haven’t been getting 10,000 steps a day. I’m telling myself that leaves room for improvement!

FitBit udandi.com

I’m still learning how to use it and what other apps I can sync with it like MyFitnessPal where I usually log workouts based on my heart rate monitor. I tend to do those in bulk for the week so that’s why this photo doesn’t show an exercise even though I went to cycling.

So if you’re ready to join me in Verizon Wireless Move More Challenge from January 5 to March 31, leave a comment and get moving!

      • Lucrecer March 22, 2015, 9:49 pm

It looks like people are getting active again. The warmer weather helps.

  • Cindy January 6, 2015, 10:19 pm

  • Amy B January 6, 2015, 10:27 pm

    • Andi January 7, 2015, 7:44 pm

Welcome, Greg, don’t forget to come back and let us know how you’re moving more!

  • Trish January 6, 2015, 10:49 pm

Funny that I was researching the FitBit Charge HR on my way home tonight. I don’t have a heart rate monitor so I was trying to figure out if it was worth the extra $20. How do you like your FitBit? I don’t have one, but am seriously considering. Right now moving more is walking to and from the train station for work!

    • Andi January 7, 2015, 7:42 pm

Keep moving to/from the train, Trish! I like it and if you like knowing about your heart rate during activity, you’ll probably benefit from the Charge HR. The Fitbit app tracks sleep and gives you a way to track your food and water overall making one mindful of all these decisions

  • Hth January 6, 2015, 10:50 pm

Udandi. Changing lives one blogpost at a time! Love u like no other!

Welcome, jen, I look forward to hearing how you Move More!

  • Rachael Thompson January 7, 2015, 6:22 am

“Sitting is the New Smoking”… My mantra as I aim to walk/ run/ play more with my kids this year. I want to show them the benefits of an active life (vs. sedentary tv watching). On dangerously cold days like today (12 degrees), we play “Bear” or “Shark” and run around the house chasing each other!

    • Andi January 7, 2015, 7:36 pm

That’s great, Rachael, the play in the house not the part about sitting being the new smoking (as a cube dweller that’s scary!)

  • Faith January 7, 2015, 11:00 am

It would be interesting to see how many steps I get in when I’m working compared to when I’m home. I live in a small space but I cover the same ground a lot!

    • Andi January 7, 2015, 7:34 pm

Thanks for joining, Faith, keep moving!

  • Molly Beam January 7, 2015, 11:48 am

I am getting a full hip replacement this month so I can do exactly everything the FITBIT encourages! It comes down to QUALITY of LIFE after age 65 and I’m going to attack it with vigor ! My 98 year old Mother exercised every morning before breakfast and played tennis until she was 88. I know she would approve of using the FITBIT, anything that gets us moving and keeping us flexible, healthy and wise !

    • Andi January 7, 2015, 7:31 pm

Welcome to the Move More Challenge, Molly, your mom is great inspiration for all of us! May you a full and speedy recovery.

  • Amy Cribbs January 7, 2015, 12:36 pm

    LOVE IT!

  • AuntieM January 7, 2015, 12:39 pm

I would love too see how many steps I take a day and, if I am a “restless” sleeper.

  • Amy Cribbs January 7, 2015, 1:03 pm

After losing 35 pounds since May 2014 thru diet and exercise, the holidays kicked my butt and I’m back on the wagon again! I only gained back a couple pounds, but I’m still mad at myself, especially since I still have such much farther to go…but I’ll get there! Ultimate goal is 65 lbs by the time my next, next birthday comes around – Feb 2016. But my immediate goal for this challenge is 20 lbs – roughly 10% of my current weight. Thanks Andi and Verizon for the extra boost to get me moving!

    • Andi January 7, 2015, 7:26 pm

Amy, I love your goals and that you’ll be MOVING toward them using this challenge!

  • Erin January 7, 2015, 7:07 pm

this is awesome and amazing! I’m in!

  • Erin January 7, 2015, 7:11 pm

I forgot to add my activity to get moving. I’m not sure. We are joining the y tomorrow, so i was going to look into Zumba!

  • Tim B January 8, 2015, 1:12 pm

Welcome, Jeff, I enjoy that combo of working out, too!

  • erin January 12, 2015, 7:49 am

So, I have been walking on the treadmill this week and drinking a million gallons of water and watching my calories. I lost 5 pounds! I am sure it’s “water weight” but I’ll take it. 🙂 How do you like the fitbit?

    • Andi January 13, 2015, 7:47 pm

So far, Erin, I really like the Fitbit it is quite the conversation starter and I’m learning how others are out and about moving! Congrats on the water intake!

  • Paige January 13, 2015, 1:23 am

I love walking and would love to keep closer track of how many steps I’m getting in and pay attention to what days I need to move more. Always feel my best after long strolls!

    • Andi January 13, 2015, 7:55 pm

Welcome, Paige, something as simple as walking has such a wonderful reward for both the body and mind!

  • Chris M January 13, 2015, 3:56 pm

Lost my fitbit and would love a replacement to keep up and compete with all of my fitbit toting pals!

    • Andi January 13, 2015, 7:54 pm

Chris, you’re the second guy to mention losing your Fitbit – ahhh! Glad to have you on this challenge!

  • erin January 16, 2015, 7:00 am

I’ve been moving more and doing zumba. My shoes are old and dumb. So, I went to the store to get new gym shoes. AHHH. So overwhelming. What shoes do you like? Can I wear running shoes to do Zumba? I mean sometimes I walk on the treadmill and use the machines too. So, aren’t they all just “gym shoes”? What are your opinions on that?

  • erin January 20, 2015, 7:57 am

You should give Zumba another try!! Do it! You can not possibly be more uncoordinated than I am. You spin! And I can’t do that. 🙂

  • Shannan January 21, 2015, 3:28 pm

I’m in to get more fit

I want to join my local YMCA so I can go swimming for exercise.

  • Gina February 2, 2015, 6:05 pm

I’m enjoying the internal motivation/humiliation of competing with my friends for steps. I’d like to get more steps in and I’d also like to get into a can’t-miss morning elliptical workout.

  • Jeremy February 7, 2015, 9:59 pm

I would love to bike more!

  • Vickie Jones February 10, 2015, 12:07 pm
