Sony Walkman W

Years ago, I had a Sony Walkman cassette player (as seen in this photo). I used to pop in MTV Party to Go, Vol 3 (Heavy D’s Now That We Found Love was my jam) then strap that baby to my shorts and take off for a workout. Oh sure a few minutes into it, my shorts were saggy and the over-the-head headphones were creepy toward the back of my neck, but I had music with me!

A couple of weeks ago Klout sent me the Sony Walkman W because I tweet about music or fitness or Instagram gym selfies too often or Foursquare my gym activity (don’t ask me because I don’t know what criteria they used).

I was a little skeptical at first, would this stay on over my ears and behind my head? Yes, once I changed the earbud pieces to the correct size for my ears.

Would I be able to hear the music over my huffing as I hauled myself up hill runs? Yes, the sound is amazingly good.

Would having larger things around my ear make me believe I was part of the We Are the World supergroup and cause me to hold one ear and sing that song? Absolutely.

Would my ability to sing Mariah Carey hands-free at the gym get that much easier? Yes, but if you get too into doing her hand movements while singing you can knock yourself off balance on the elliptical.

Would I keep using it? Yes, it has proven itself easier to use than my iPhone in my Spibelt. I haven’t found an armband I’m comfortable with and the reason I like to have access is to change a track or volume adjustment. The only thing is sometimes I wear one earbuds so I can stay aware of my surroundings and in those times, I’d just go back to my phone/earbuds.

I’ll probably wear it for mowing grass, I’m certain my neighbors are excited to hear my free concerts!
