Nine years ago this month, I bought my first brand-new, from-the-dealer, shipped-across-the-country car, a Scion xB.

Among other things I’ve enjoyed, it gets great gas mileage and it is perfect for transporting. And for car picnics in the work parking lot.

The 2014 Scions have a touchscreen audio feature, which is slightly fancier than the MP3 CD player in my car.
