Podcasts Suggestions

Since 1999, I have listened to Bob & Sheri either on radio, the web or podcasts. Recently, the format changed and they added more music, which means the podcasts are being poorly edited to exclude the music and in turn conversations are cut off and now the length is maybe an hour versus the previous three hours. Local radio does not really satisfy me and I really like podcasts for the purpose of listening to a voice, which makes me fall asleep. Since it seems like everyone is producing podcasts, I thought I’d ask for suggestions of podcasts that are humorous, pop culture and/or informative.

I like:
Pop My Culture
Sklarbro Country (love the Sklar brothers!)

I sort-of like:
Doug Loves the Movies (Leonard Maltin game is the best part)
The Nerdist (the sound is bad at times)
Cort and Fatboy Show
Funemployment Radio

I’ve tried but don’t like
The Onion News

If you are a podcast listener, share what do you like even if you think it isn’t up my alley!

Hey Casey, thanks for stopping by. I forgot I do listen to Wait Wait, too!

If people have radio experience it improves the prodution and listening experience tenfold as I realized when listening to Mouse Magic in a Minute, which is done by @RadioCarla and @Tom_Streeter who are local.

If you like pop culture podcasts, subscribe to NPR’s Culturetopia and try their Pop Culture Happy Hour episodes! It’s just four nice, thoughtful people talking about the week in pop culture, and it’s charming. I also listen to Car Talk, This American Life, and Stuff You Should Know.

Hi, I don’t know if you can listen to BBC programmes and podcasts in the US, but I think they are free on iTunes. You should check out the comedy from BBC Radio 4 and Radio 6, they are all really entertaining and often point you in interesting directions to find out more about current culture.

Slightly unrelated, I am a massive fan of Stitching and Junk. It’s a very funny trans-Atlantic podcast about, well, stitching and junk. That stitching bit sounds a little specific, but I think any crafter would probably enjoy it. They do talk about food a lot as well!!
