Pharmacy Rewards

I take prescription medication for the control and treatment of my migraines. When the pharmacies offer incentives to new or transferred prescriptions, I pay attention, because the cost of my ‘scripts even with insurance are a little expensive. In the last few months I have been able to take advantage of:

  • Krogers ($25 on your loyalty card for a trans prescription)
  • Walgreens ($25 gift card for a new or transferred, which they send to me about once a month, but you can only transferred one every six months)
  • Every couple of month’s Target’s Sunday ad will have a coupon for a $10 gift card for a new or transferred prescription. This coupon appeared in the Sunday, April 5 ad

In Cincinnati there’s also biggs, Meijers and CVS which may or may not use their pharmacy as a loss leader for their store, but they are not stores on my radar for one reason or another.

Your Mileage May Vary
Your insurance company may or may not like you transferring prescriptions around. This has not been my experience, but I know someone who said he was contacted by his insurance company to ask why each month he had a different pharmacy fill his prescription.

Make sure you know whether changing to a different pharmacy is worth the incentive, like is the pharmacy within your rountine driving schedule? Is their customer service efficient and friendly? Will switching to the new pharmacy cause you to spend more money at the store (which is what the store wants) than you normally would? If all things considered are worth it, keep an eye out for opportunities to get a little extra with your prescriptions!

I had migrains for years untill last year, I take everyday a teaspoon of ginger-powder, mix it with water. Fresh ginger is not so effective as the powder.
I haven’t had a migrain in a year. I wish I discovered it 15 years ago I think my life would be totally different.
