I bought a dresser for $5 and painted it to hold my craft supplies. I added ribbon holders using dowels. A magnetic memo board to keep loose ends and clutter up. The work surface was kept empty except for when working on a project.
Then I got a desk and it became a little more of storage. Having the desk in the middle of the room meant people can sit on both sides.
People still love this Target Madison Trestle desk. I bought it in 2007 because the black was nearly $100 cheaper in store than the white, which was only available online.
