Review & Giveaway: Fresh Snack Packs

As you know, I love my Pyrex dishes, but people ask do I like carrying that much weight in my lunch bag? It never occurred to me before. Recently we were sent Fresh Snack Packs to try. I realized how much lighter my bag is when I pack a sandwich and carrots in these rather than my usual containers.

Fresh Snack Pack are a snack holder and placement in one check it out at LunchItPunchIt.com

I found these reusable packs to be very easy to use, clean and get ready for the use, which is important to me because I come home from work, clean out my bag and pack the next lunch (again, if lunch is not packed in advance, it doesn’t happen). Also, I liked how they opened up and could be used as placemat on the table or folded behind itself and the hook and loop closure can afix so you can easily access the pouch. I liked that the packs are clear so I could see what is packed – do I want carrots or apples first? These are the hard-hitting questions I ask at lunchtime.

As it states on the FAQ, carrots and mustard will stain the bags after repeated use and I have noticed mine is a tinted a smidge orange but it doesn’t affect the flavor or leave a scent on the bag.

If you’re interested in making the switch to a reusable lunch packing option, check out  Fresh Snack Packs.

How do you normally get to work?

I know that for me, bringing my whole lunch in pyrex, depending on what I’m bringing, isn’t going to work for me because I walk to work (~30 minutes, often in icy or snowy conditions at this time of year) and often don’t start my day at my office, instead visiting several different worksites before getting to my office and fridge. Carrying around a heavy lunch isn’t practical, and say a soup + a container of veggies + my breakfast yogourt gets heavy. But I’m definitely seeing the benefits of using pyrex, and have started mixing it in with my regular plastic lunch containers with good results.

The three of us each live and work in areas that require car. I know how annoying it can be when one says gas is $3.50/gal time to take the bus/walk/bike. Those are not viable options for my home to work commute.

Like many things in life, the reason there we have options – the one size fits all mentality does not work. I am happy that my packed lunches have little trash after consumption whether from using Pyrex, plastic containers, reusable bags or skipping pre-packaged meals and individual serving size snacks.

What you pack and how you pack, is all a matter of preference!

These look really interesting! My favorite snack to pack would have to be celery with a side of PB. Bonus points for raisin, and yes, I will make ants on a log at any age.

My fave snack is an apple, especially during fall. As summer hits I will switch to berries and stone fruits, but the apple does not mush or bruise in my bag.

Also I like you on FB now 🙂

My favorite snacks to send with my husband is a veggie bag (celery, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes) and a grape bag.

I like almonds & cubed cheese. I’m also a big pyrex fan — I’m on maternity leave right now but I’m slightly nervous about returning to work with my purse, my lunch bag, my pump & sometimes my laptop – it’s a lot to carry.

I can feel your pain…I feel like I move in and out of work each morning and evening. It has been a little over 6 months since I returned to work from maternity leave, and even though it doesn’t get lighter you do get into a routine just like with anything else.

And as it turns out I packed nuts for my morning snack and cheese and crackers for my afternoon snack today. We must be totally on the same wavelength!

      Congrats on the new babe!

    Dry crispix!

I retweeted the contest on Twitter 🙂 My favorite snack is veggies and hummus. I like carrots, celery, cucumbers, and radishes to dip in the hummus. So I don’t get bored, I’ll make different variations of hummus like spicy, red pepper, or if I’m ticked off at my co-workers…extra garlic hahaha

  • Sare March 8, 2011, 11:37 am

Love to pack up almonds and dried cranberries.

  • Andy March 8, 2011, 9:26 pm

    Fresh carrots!

  • teran March 8, 2011, 9:31 pm

My favorite snack is hummus and carrots or celery 🙂

  • Trashmaster46 March 8, 2011, 9:56 pm

Aw, man! I forgot to put my favorite snack in my comment. I go in several-month phases. I recently ended a phase of boiled eggs for late-day snacks. I often take a mix of dried fruits & almonds. Sometimes I take hummus and Wheat Thins or pretzels.
