The coupon queen

in money

If you’ve have been reading this blog since 2006 you know I have this love-hate thing for coupons, I want to love them the way this coupon queen does, but I live in small places where I do not have an extra freezer and cannot stockpile Rice Krispie Treats Cereal (drop me a comment if your grocery sells them – for realz!) no matter how much I want!

Q: But how do you save that kind of money? Most coupons are for fairly small amounts.

A: Sure, a quarter off a four-pack of Charmin isn’t that great. But if you can find it on sale for $1, and get double coupons, you’ve got it for half-price. Basically, you watch coupons, buy extras of the (things) you want, combine them with sales, combine them with store coupons, and when you find a really good deal, you stockpile. You buy as much as the deals allow. I’ve got a cabinet full of General Mills cereal – a year’s worth that I bought for a quarter a box. When Meijer had pasta 10 for $10, and I had a $1-off manufacturer’s coupon, that was free pasta.

I was thinking couponing would be a good suggestion for a library program, but then I read on her blog she is offering a class at a church for $10/head. I am guessing for that price you get all the information you can gather from the blogs, sites like CincyMoms and the rest of the couponing sites in an organized fashion.

I should get Gramma reading her blog since she likes flip through the sunday ads and then shop the bargains (mostly Walgreens).

Thanks for the post!

The class was a request by several moms, and the cost covers a 20 page guide I wrote, along with 4 hours of class time. In the end, its all a fundraiser for missions I’m involved in, in Guatemala and Africa.

Coupons can be wonderful, but it does take time!
