Make It: Meat Cake
When I saw the meat cake (posted by Mom o Matic ) it reminded me of hamburger pie.Hamburger pie (meatloaf made in a pie pan topped with mashed potatoes and cheese) was a treat to be had only when dad was away because he did not enjoy it, like us kids did! I'm sure he felt loved when upon hearing he was going out of town the first thing we asked was if we were going to have hamburger pie.

Wow that looks like it takes a LOT of ground beef. I used to make hamburger pie too, the kind that's on Bisquick boxes, when I was around 10. It'd always be soaked in pickle juice..don't know how my mom could stand it.
I can't decide whether I think this is really cool or really gross! Either way, I might have to try making one. It would be fun to bring it in to work for a little switcheroo at the montly office birthday party!
When my dad was out of town, my mom would make us oatmeal cookies and tapioca pudding for dinner (both homemade). Hamburger pie sounds slightly more nutritious.
